Shaun
VOLUNTEER, CODE CLUB TUTOR, MENTOR
Shaun Malone is a software engineer, creative technologist and business owner with over 20 years of industry experience, having worked across a range of companies from startups to large enterprises.
Shaun has been obsessed with computers since he got a ZX Spectrum as a kid in the late 80s. His primary and secondary school teachers are a source of huge inspiration. They nurtured his love of computing and gave him the extra challenge and support that he needed. As a result he was able to represent New Zealand twice in an international schools programming competition at the ages of 14-15.
He wants to make the same kind of impact by showing young people how to turn their incredibly creative ideas into something they can see, hear and interact with.
When he’s not coding in Python, Java or Javascript, you will find him playing Minecraft, performing live electronic music, tending his strawberries, or out on a walk with his dog Milo
